Community Journalism: Under the direction of Dr. Gary Rice, a 21-year reporting and editing veteran, students produce stories for area newspapers and magazines including The Fresno Bee, Vida en al Valle; Reedley Exponent, Sanger Herald, Fowler Ensign, Madera Tribune, Visalia Times-Delta, Fresno magazine and other publications.
Since the program's inception in 2004, students have published more than 1,600 stories professionally, won four professional awards for public service journalism (Gruner Awards) and finished as runner-up for three others. Student work as been cited by the Fresno County grand jury and led to criminal investigations.
