Tar Beach
By Tammy Ryan
Directed by J. Daniel Herring
October 28 – November 5, 2016
Venue: The Dennis and Cheryl Woods Theatre
About the play:
In July 1977 the Son of Sam is on the loose and New York City is in the midst of a
brutal heat wave. Two teenage friends sun themselves atop a row house. A younger sibling
searches for her lost homework, while parents are consumed with their troubled marriage.
A plan to stay out all night is complicated by a power outage, and a sudden loss of
innocence.
Suitability: Due to strong language and mature themes, the production is recommended for mature audiences
