Broadcast and multiplatform journalism, field production, studio production.
Labor practices, corporate ownership influences, and regulation impacts on journalism, newsroom workers and the community.
A self-described news and information junkie, Carey worked in local television production for over 20 years, most recently in Portland, Oregon. Carey loves to use social media to stay current on issues and practices affecting those in newsrooms. Her classrooms reflect this combination of practice, continued research and networking to prepare the next generation to study, work in, and understand the business of media.
When not in the classroom, you'll find Carey running around Fresno, in her garden with her family or cheering on her original Bulldog connection, UGA. Online, you can find her on Twitter @DirectorCarey (https://twitter.com/DirectorCarey) or her blog https://careyhd.wordpress.com/.
