Center for Creativity and the Arts

A Welcome to the Center for Creativity and the Arts!

Inaugurated in 2011 The Center for Creativity and the Arts (CCA) is a shared intellectual and imaginative space – a vehicle for public engagement with the arts.  Recognizing that artists contribute to and transform the intellectual life of the University and the Central San Joaquin Valley, the Center serves as a catalyst for open, dynamic discussion of community-relevant topics that are illuminated by artistic programming.

Each year CCA adopts an annual theme salient to our community around which we develop programming.  Themes are considered and selected from consultations with campus and community friends and supporters. Upon selection of a theme CCA invites recommendations for exhibitions or artists-in-residence that will inspire examination and dialogue about the theme.  Around this visual arts centerpiece, CCA partners with other departments to schedule additional artistic and creative programming that enhance dimensions of inquiry and deepen engagement with the theme.

This unique approach for engagement with the arts results in Fresno State students learning from and working alongside some of the world’s distinguished visual and performing artists and creative scholars.  Our regional community is enriched by world-class artistic and creative presentations and CCA serves as a resource and living laboratory for K-12 arts education.

We welcome your participation and look forward to having you join us for one or more of our programs.  Feel free to write or call me to learn more about the Center for Creativity and the Arts at Fresno State.

Sincerely,

José A. Díaz, D.M.A.
