Undergraduate Majors
English majors must select a program, which feature different areas of specialization and professionalization within the major.
The English Literature major prepares students to read thoughtfully and write well for a variety of professional careers.
B.A. English - Creative Writing
The Creative Writing major prepares students to read thoughtfully and write well for careers in literary arts.
The English Studies major is designed to help prepare future middle and high school English teachers.
Undergraduate Minors
The English Department offers three minors, for students with majors in other departments.
Graduate Programs
The English Department offers master's programs that provide substantial opportunities for students to pursue advanced studies in their discipline.
The M.A. in Literature serves students teaching high school and community college, anticipating doctoral studies, and studying expository writing.
M.A. English - Rhetoric and Writing Studies
The M.A. in Rhetoric and Writing Studies serves students teaching high school and community college, and anticipating doctoral studies.
The MFA includes studies in the writing of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, and an optional emphasis in publishing and editing.
Credentials and Certificates
