Degrees and Programs

The Linguistics Department offers a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Linguistics.
The BA can be completed with one of four options:
- General Linguistics
- Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages/Second Language Acquisition and Teaching (TESOL/SLAT)
- Computational Linguistics
- Interdisciplinary Language Studies

The MA program has two options:

The department also offers a variety of minors and undergraduate and graduate certificates in TESOL/SLAT.
General Education Linguistics Credit
The following courses will meet General Education requirements: ARAB 1A/B, CHIN 1A/B, HMONG 1A/B, JAPN 1A/B, PERS 1A/B, LING 10 (Area 3B, formerly Area C); LING 30 (Lifelong Understanding and Self-developing L/S, formerly Area E); LING 115, 130, 138 (Area UD3, formerly Integration IC); LING 147 (Multicultural/International MI).
