Korean Literati Ink Painting
ART 109T Korean Ink Painting students explored the rich tradition of Literati painting,
also known as "Four Gentlemen" painting, using Korean ink and colors. Literati
painting is a classical art form that focuses on the depiction of four noble plants:
orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum, and plum blossom. Each plant symbolizes one of
the four seasons and embodies a specific virtue. This course is taught by Dr. Young
Maeng

Art 40 Painting
Introduction to painting process through creative experiences and critiques. Emphasis
on concepts and processes of contemporary painting. The study of foundational art
precepts, the materials and properties of oil pigments, and making-marks as a language.

Koren Ink Paintings-ART 120
Painting has rich literati painting tradition and is widely practiced in the contemporary
art world. It primarily employs black ink, negative space, and subtle colors, creating
expressive yet simplistic and suggestive brushstrokes that convey the artist’s
innermost feelings and aim to achieve harmonization with the world and nature.
