Kathy Luo (She/Her) is a dance artist based in Fresno, California. She is an Assistant Professor of Dance
at California State University, Fresno. Kathy holds an MFA in Dance and the Dance
Teaching Artist Certificate from Arizona State University. Her professional expertise
includes Modern and Postmodern Contemporary Dance practice, Dance Composition, Asian
Diaspora Dance studies, and Yoga/Pilates training. Kathy's dance research focuses
on interdisciplinary collaboration in immersive theater and site-specific dance settings.
She believes dance is a powerful tool for connecting people and bringing different
disciplines together to foster artistic rapport.
As a dedicated dancer and researcher, Kathy has attended numerous conferences, including
the 16th Nordic Forum for Dance Research Conference held in Oslo, Norway, the American
College Dance Association Conference (ACDA), the National Dance Education Organization
Conference (NDEO), California Dance Education Association (CDEA), Las Vegas Dance
in the Desert Festival, L.A. Feedback Film Festival, Utah Dance Film Festival, Arizona
Dance Festival, and Southeast Theatre Conference (SETC). Additionally, Kathy is the
selected performing artist for 2023 Mark DeGarmo Dance’s Transcultural and Trans-disciplinary
Salon Performance in New York City. She has also been selected for the Keshet Makers
Space Experience Artist Residency program in Albuquerque, NM.
