Ashlea Sheridan is a bassoonist and educator based in California's Central Valley
and Las Vegas, Nevada. An enthusiastic educator, Ms. Sheridan serves on the faculties
of California State University, Fresno and California State University, Stanislaus.
Ashlea has taught courses in music history, music theory and ear training, music
education, applied bassoon lessons, and bassoon reed making. In addition to her university
students, Ms. Sheridan maintains a private studio of bassoon students in Las Vegas,
many of whom have gone on to prestigious music programs across the United States.
Ashlea is often heard saying, “have bassoon, will travel,” and has performed in Australia,
Austria, Canada, Italy, Mexico, Spain, and extensively throughout the Western United
States. Ashlea held the position of Second Bassoon with Orquesta Sinfónica de la
UANL (Monterrey, Mexico) from 2016-2018 and is currently Principal Bassoon with Henderson
Symphony Orchestra, David Perrico's Pop Symphonic, and THE VIOLUTION ORCHESTRA. Other
ensembles Ashlea has performed with on bassoon and contrabassoon include the Fresno
Philharmonic, Fresno Grand Opera, Las Vegas Philharmonic, Nevada Pops Orchestra, Nevada
Ballet Theatre, Nevada Chamber Orchestra, Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society, Palouse
Choral Society, Vegas City Opera, Opera Las Vegas, Sequoia Symphony Orchestra, Reno
Philharmonic Orchestra, and Reno Chamber Orchestra. Ashlea can be heard on Classical
Crossover album David Perrico Pop Symphonic (2023). Ashlea has had the privilege of sharing the stage with artists such as Andrea
Bocelli, Natalie Cole, Time for Three, Juan Diego Flórez, Renée Fleming, Evanescence,
Bad Bunny, and Journey.
Ms. Sheridan holds degrees from California State University, Fresno and University
of Nevada, Las Vegas. A performer of early music, Ashlea had additional studies on
period instruments at the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute and the Tafelmusik
Baroque Summer Institute.
Away from the bassoon, Ashlea enjoys playing early and folk woodwind instruments from
different parts of the world, cooking, exploring the beauty of the Western United
States, and most things considered “nerdy.”
