Dr. Amine Tais is an associate professor of religious studies at the Department of Philosophy of CSU Fresno. He holds a Ph.D. from Georgetown University in Washington DC and a master's degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Tais’s expertise is in the academic study of religion with a focus on Islam. He has published scholarly articles in the field of Islamic studies and has taught a variety of classes in philosophy and religious studies. His research interests include Islamic intellectual history, religious reform movements, secularism and religion, scripture and interpretation, as well as religious extremism and violence. In addition to his scholarly activities, Dr. Tais regularly participates in educating the larger public on issues surrounding religion.
