College of Arts and Humanities Commencement
Welcome to the CAH Commencement page. Thank you all for your patience with the delayed update.
It was lovely seeing so many of you at Grad Fest and at March 20th's Zoom Information Session! Please check back here Monday Morning (March 24) for the recording and an updated FAQ document. I will hold a second information session after Spring Break.
Some quick updates:
First and foremost, if you plan to participate in our ceremony make sure you register through this link by May 7! This is a completely separate process from applying to graduate from the university, you will need to do both.
Good news! Regalia (your cap, gown, and tassel) and other graduation related attire and souvenirs are now available at the Kennel Bookstore. For the College of Arts and Humanities, the undergraduate tassel is white, the graduate tassel is black and your hood is white.
College stoles are still for sale! These are optional, not required, and you can wear as many of them as you would like.
Honor cords will be distributed after Spring Break. If you qualify for honors, you will be emailed on April 18 with instructions for how to pick them up, beginning Monday, April 20. How honors are calculated is set by the CSU Chancellor’s office; to graduate with honors you must have BOTH a campus and a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Honors are then determined by your campus GPA:
- 3.5 - 3.69, cum laude (with honors), white and red cords
- 3.7 - 3.89, magna cum laude (with great honors), silver and red cords
- 3.9 - 4.0, summa cum laude (with highest honors), gold and red cords.
Only undergraduates receive honor cords. Master’s candidates, if you are graduating with distinction, it will be printed on the degree itself, and indicated in the program. There is no rule at Fresno State preventing you from wearing your honors cords from your undergraduate degree with your regalia.
I am your main contact for all College of Arts & Humanities graduation ceremony questions, so feel free to reach out to me via email at bbarks@mail.fresnostate.edu, or call the office at 559.278.3056. I am here to help!
Kind regards,
Brenna
