Department of Music
ENGAGE. EMBRACE. EXPLORE. EMPOWER.
We are committed to cultivating an educational environment that ENGAGES the community, EMBRACES and celebrates diversity, EXPLORES music’s role in world cultures, and EMPOWERS music educators, performers, and composers to make a positive impact in the world.
The Department must lead in achieving this mission of engaging the community, embracing diversity, exploring music’s role in world cultures, and empowering our students to make a positive impact in the world. We do so by supporting the creation and performance of music, and developing a musically literate audience. The Department continues to achieve these goals by optimizing the integration of performance, historical, theoretical, and technological elements of the curriculum. The Department seeks to prepare professionals, amateurs, and advocates to shape the musical life of our community.
