I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from CSU Fresno in 1999 and then earned
my Master of Arts with a Literature option from the same campus in 2009. While my graduate studies focused mainly on Ancient World Literature and mythology,
I also studied Modern Composition Theory which trained me in teaching and assessing
students in developmental reading and writing courses. In addition, I have received training in Linguistics to provide reading and writing
instruction specific to students who speak English as a second language. I’ve also
spent time working one-on-one with students on grammar-specific issues as a reading
and writing tutor at CSU Fresno’s Writing Center. I have taught developmental writing
for eighteen years and have extensive experience teaching synchronistic and asynchronistic
classes online using Blackboard, Canvas, and Zoom, and have a Teaching Online Certificate
from Quality Matters. In addition to teaching general education courses in composition, I have taught an
online synchronistic upper division Mythology and Folklore course.
Research in ancient world literature, mythology and folklore, medieval literature,
cultural anthropology, and archeology, online teaching.
