Courtney Hughes has taught writing and literature courses for Fresno State's English
Department since 2012. She has developed curriculum for Upward Bound high school students
and has run multiple writing centers for area community colleges. As a founding member
of Fresno State's Creative Writing Alumni Chapter, she plans and supports literary
events for multiple generations of Fresno writers, with themes such as performing
poetry while swimming in the hot Fresno sun (LitSplash) and performing poetry while
parading pooches onstage (LitPup). While teaching is her passion, she has enjoyed
stepping into the role of “mom! Momma! Mommmmyyyy!” to her lovely young daughter.
