After a ten-year career in corporate communication and human resources, Jennifer began her graduate studies in English, with a concentration in Composition Theory in 2006. She graduated with a M.A. in December 2011, with Distinction. Jennifer's Master's Thesis, titled "Agency, Critical Practice, and Success: Reflection in First-Year Writing" continues to inform her scholarly interests of Critical Literacy and the pratice of reflective writing. Since 2012, Jennifer has served as Lecturer for the First-Year Writing Program at Fresno State. In addition, she served as Lecturer for the Smittcamp Honors College from 2012-2017. Jennifer is married to Doug Mayer, District Structural Engineer for California Department of Health Care Access and Information, with whom she is raising three children: Jack, Malcolm, and Miranda.
