Drew Quiring is a staff collaborative pianist for California State University, Fresno, working
primarily with the voice and string departments, and is concurrently completing his
dissertation for his doctoral degree in Collaborative Piano Performance at Arizona
State University. He has held prior coaching and pianist engagements at Northwestern
State University in Louisiana; the Quartet Program in Fredonia, New York under the
direction of Charles Castleman from the Eastman School of Music; and the Franco-American
Vocal Academy in Paris and Périgueux, France. During his summers in France, he has
also been a recurring stagiare at l'Académie Francis Poulenc, under the direction
of François Le Roux, where he was partnered with the acclaimed French soprano Valérie
Condoluci, studying with faculty members from the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP). In
2016, he premièred Laura Arganbright’s piano reduction of Marco Aurélio Yano's Oboe
Concerto with the arranger as soloist at the International Double Reed Society in
Columbus, GA, and both delivered a lecture on "Exoticism in French Music during the
Long 19th Century", and performed a recital of works for flute and piano by Mélanie
Bonis and Gabriel Pierné with Jenna Daum of the Phoenix Symphony, as part of the Experience France weekend at the Musical Instrument Museum in Scottsdale, Arizona. For the 2015 Southwest
Clarinet Festival he performed a recital with Todd Cope, principal clarinetist of
the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. He is a recipient of multiple Manitoba Arts
Council grants and has been a winning finalist in the Canadian National Music Festival.
Drew has participated in various institutional programmes including Centre d'arts
Orford, Toronto Summer Music Academy and Festival, Vancouver International Song Institute,
and Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute. Drew is also an active organist and continuo
harpsichordist and has enjoyed diverse positions from church musician to ballet accompanist,
playing all styles with all instruments and voice types.
