Important notes
- Newly admitted students who have yet to start their first semester at Fresno State must complete their attendance with Dog Days New Student Orientation before any academic advising takes place.
- Please check your Student Portal for any registration holds that may have been placed on your account. Mandatory Advising Holds will be lifted
by your major faculty advisor.
Note: We contact students with Probation, Freshman Advising, and Transfer Advising holds directly. Please check your email for further information if one of these holds applies to you. - We will not be seeing appointments for Change of majors/minors between the weeks of 8/20/25-9/2/25. Please note you may still take classes for intended undeclared majors/minors as there are no restrictions in our college.
Appointment Times
- Summer appointment times: Mon-Fri 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
- All appointments are over Zoom unless otherwise requested.
- Please email your counselor based on your last name (see Counselor Selection) or use Bulldog Connect. However, if you have been working with a specific academic counselor in the past, please feel free to continue to work with them individually.

Commencement vs Applying for Graduation
COMMENCEMENT: The ceremony held only in Spring semesters where students wear their cap/gown and
walk across the stage
APPLYING FOR GRADUATION: An application a student fills out on their Student Portal during the semester they plan to complete all degree requirements, which results in obtaining your diploma in the mail at a later date. Can be done in Fall, Spring, or Summer.
